Marvin A Valdez | MS, LPC-IT, SAC-IT
I began my journey in the field of Human Services as a Crisis Stabilizer and Mentor in Milwaukee working with adolescents in developing coping skills through Play Therapy and Psychosocial Interactions. I really enjoy working with adolescents because they possess an intangible brilliance in their potential of creativity.
While it is understandable that youths may have difficulties expressing their thoughts and feelings, I feel that it is imperative that they are guided in finding their own voice and identity. Though challenging, I acknowledge the importance in nurturing the brilliant minds of the youth to ensure a better tomorrow.
I have two years of experience in working in Medicine Assisted Treatment and Substance Abuse Counseling, incorporating evidence-based approaches from a Mental Health aspect of treatment—with an emphasis on treating anxiety and depression. Some of the approaches that I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy.
I received my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College of Human Services – Milwaukee, focusing on Human Development, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse. I look forward to working with you on your journey to recovery.
